Disclosures

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Transparency matters. This page explains, in plain language, important disclosures about Your Own Books, the CTPP program, and our content.

Who we are

Your Own Books is the professional-education brand of Tax Practice Consulting, Inc. DBA Your Own Books (“Your Own Books,” “we,” “us”), a California corporation. Our founder is a CTEC-registered tax preparer. Your Own Books is an educational and consulting business — it is not a CPA firm, does not provide attest services (audits, reviews, or compilations), and does not hold itself out as one.

The CTPP designation is a private credential

The Certified Tax Planning Practitioner (CTPP) designation is a private credential issued by Your Own Books. It is not a state or federal license or certification, and it does not authorize you to perform any work you could not already legally perform under your existing credentials.

Continuing education status

Your Own Books has applied for IRS Continuing Education provider status; that approval is in process and has not yet been granted. CTEC provider approval is a separate step we intend to pursue after IRS approval. Until each approval is granted, the program should not be relied upon to satisfy IRS or CTEC continuing-education requirements. We will update this page and our program pages when approvals are in place.

Not professional advice

Everything we publish and teach is general educational information, not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice, and does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship. Verify current law with the appropriate authorities and use professional judgment.

Results are not guaranteed

Any examples of practice growth, revenue, or client outcomes are illustrations, not promises. Your results depend on your own effort, market, and circumstances.
